The Chateau de la Guillonniere is not a hotel, but a self - catering private castle.

The owners live all year round in a wing of the château, have their private entrance and apartments and they respect their guests privacy.

The other wing and some annex buildings have been converted for holiday renting and the guest rooms are decorated with taste and knowledge of styles, antiques and decorations.

 All our accommodations are self-contained : each unit is independent and has private entrance.

Since the park and the castle are totally private and not open to public visit ,  you can , in total privacy , rest , walk, dream,  discover the beautiful rose garden, the ponds , the hundreds of year old trees...

Your hosts, Marie France and Georges Rebillard d‘Alba, will welcome you as friends. They will give you the Keys of your holiday accommodations  and you will be completely independent, just like at home.

You will be the lady or lord of the manor during your stay.

Pictured here are the Duchy's flag and the Heraldic Coat of Arms of the  current owners  of  the castle. Its origin dates from the 18th century at the King of Spain's Court. The famous Duchess of Albe, loved by Goya, is Marie France's ancestor.  Georges is an artist. He used to be a producer and film director.  Both  like old historical buildings, renovated and  gave life to the Castle of La Guillonniere and share now with people from around the world the rare pleasure of living here. Marie France and Georges, both lovers of art, painting, photography and architecture, can advise you on how best to discover the impressive cultural heritage of this beautiful region of France.

 

The Chateau de la Guillonniere and its outbuildings are a private hamlet in the middle of 25 acres of a park with a large forest nearby. There is no traffic, no pollution...guests parking is about hundred meters from the castle, so in the Castle and hamlet areas this is   just "peace and quietness" . In spring, the meadows are full of wild flowers – a delight . If you are patient (and wake up early!), you can watch dears, roebucks, foxes, squirrels, birds of all kinds, rabbits, hares and more. You are almost transported a few centuries back in time...in a dream romantic country.
